What Are Titleist Golf Balls?

The Titleist golf company was founded in 1932 when Phil Young discovered many golf balls on the market were poorly constructed with off-center cores. This led Mr. Young to develop his line of golf balls with superior construction. From this beginning, Titleist has maintained their strict commitment to quality products. The Titleist golf ball is possibly the most popular brand of golf ball in play and is used by many PGA and LPGA professionals in tournament play around the world.

Currently, the Titleist company produces the following golf balls: The Titleist Pro V1, Titleist Pro V1x, Titleist NXT Tour, Titleist NXT Tour S, Titleist DT TruSoft, Titleist Velocity, and Titleist AVX. Some of these balls are available in either the standard white color or yellow, and many can be personalized with a logo of your choosing. Each of these balls has slightly different features and are intended to perform in a particular manner. Overall, quality of design and engineering are second to none with Titleist golf balls.

Product Specs

The Titleist Tour Soft ball is one of the newest Titleist golf balls available and is comparable to Callaway's Chrome Soft golf ball. The Titleist Tour Soft ball is a two-piece design with a larger core and composite cover that Titleist has named their 4CE cover. This cover features a newly designed 342 dimple pattern that helps this ball produce a penetrating ball flight. The Tour Soft ball is designed to be a distance ball, but for those that don't want to lose all spin and control. The Titleist Tour Soft produces low spin and a slightly higher ball flight off the tee than its competitors, and this is ideal for long drives.

The Titleist Tour Soft is best suited for players with swing speeds under 100 MPH due to the risk of over-compression and distance loss, which is common with soft golf balls. The Tour Soft seems to jump off the face of short irons and wedge shots, and it produces a relatively high ball flight with enough spin to control distance and hold firm greens on approach shots. The Tour Soft has an excellent feel on the putting green that is responsive to the putter and produces accurate shots.

Pricing

The Titleist Tour Soft ball is available for about $30 per dozen making this ball a great value in comparison with other Titleist golf balls and similarly designed balls on the market. The Tour Soft is designed for the average golfer that doesn't want to spend the money on the ProV1 and wants a ball that maximizes distance without sacrificing all spin and control.

The Titleist Pro V1X is an outstanding golf ball designed for mid to low handicap players. The Pro V1X features a four-piece design with a urethane cover and 328 dimple pattern design. The Pro V1X is designed to offer the same feel and outstanding performance as the Pro V1 but with a few differences.

The Pro V1X is intended for slightly more distance off the tee due to its slightly higher ball flight. Also, the low spin rates make the Pro V1X extremely long off the tee especially for golfers with very high swing speeds.

The softer feel produces high spin rates on wedge and short iron shots which allow the player to shape their shots and get the ball in the air and stop it quickly to hold firm greens on approach shots.
